In depth

Verdict

Saxon Saint has been in fine form in nurseries of late and ran right up to his best again at Sandown last week but this may come too soon for Mark Usher's gelding and preference is for Danny The Dip, who gets the vote over Overwing. The selection hails from in the in-form yard of John Bridger and is taken to follow up his recent Goodwood success under ground conditions that should suit. Figaro Flyer is held by Saxon Saint on their running at Sandown last month and of more interest may be Rod Millman's Bathwick Alice, who opened her account in a Lingfield seller last time but may just find this beyond her. Phantom Whisper may do better back in distance to the minimum, while Becky Moss needs to improve on the evidence of her latest start at Newmarket. Richard Hannon's Overwing looks to be going the right way and the trainer's runners in these races always warrant respect but there was plenty to like about the way that Danny The Dip scored at Goodwood and he can follow up.
