Hawk Arrow looks the one to beat here, with Haiban suggested as his main danger. Following on from his course and distance win last time, Hawk Arrow clearly looks the one to beat here, given that a five pounds ratings rise seems fair, and that this does not seem a particularly strong race. Haiban showed much improved form to finish second over 10 furlongs at Doncaster last time and, given that, on breeding, he should appreciate the step up in trip today, he looks sure to be a leading player in what is a modest handicap. Mixing showed enough last time to suggest he might be getting things together now, but his best form so far has been on easy going, while Birthday Star showed improvement last time and might improve for the step up in trip again, but will need to. Golden Dynasty was behind him on that occasion. Darko Karim has not built on his promising Bath reappearance run, which came on soft, which, in turn, returns us to Hawk Arrow, who gets the vote.
