Verdict
Aggravation is taken to defy a penalty in the opener this evening, with Fasylitator, Aastral Magic and Ermine Grey seen as the main dangers in an open looking affair. Kieren Fallon put up 2lb overweight on Aggravation last Monday, but it made little difference as David Elsworth's four-year-old raced through from an awkward position on the rails to get up and beat Bold Act by a neck. Now set to carry a 6lb penalty, the son of Sure Blade is still way ahead of his all-weather mark and can exploit the fact once again to double up under the champion. Fasylitator has gained all of his wins on an artificial surface but showed that there is a Turf success to be had when a close third over nine furlongs at Goodwood last time. This slight drop back in trip can only be a help and is a danger along with Aastral Magic who is now ready for the step back up to a mile on latest evidence. Ermine Grey might find conditions a little too fast, while Jools is held by the selection on last week's running. Phluke will be anchored by his weight, and all in all, Aggravation has more going for him than most.
