    Verdict

Pactolus is a useful all-weather performer but not nearly as effective on Turf. Involved easily justified favouritism at Newbury but has been hit with an 8lb rise and may struggle to follow up. VARIYANN only just landed the odds at Goodwood and will have to defy a 7lb rise to complete the hat-trick but he could be the type that does just enough so gets the nod ahead of El Ghazwani, chasing a hat-trick of his own when only ninth at Haydock last month. City Tour and Carp Kid can prove best of the rest.
