Verdict

Hajmah is bound to be popular with backers following his maiden race success at Bath last time but Saeed Bin Suroor's filly does not look to be that well treated off a mark of 81 for her debut in a handicap and a safer option looks to be SOUTER POINT, who gets the vote over Non Dom. Hughie Morrison's gelding has been running consistently well this season since making a winning reappearance off a mark of 65 over course and distance and he has to be respected despite now racing off a mark 14lbs higher than when winning that race. Michael Bell's Halfway House has struggled against the handicapper since winning back-to-back races in the summer and of more interest may be John Gosden's Lively Fling, who showed improved form when a close third behind Funday at Epsom last time, finishing one place ahead of Halfway House, and he would have every chance if able to build on that effort. Master Fong is capable but would probably prefer a bit of cut in the ground and preference is for Souter Point. Roger Charlton's gelding has run well in all three starts in handicaps since landing his maiden at Lingfield in July and, off just a 1lb higher mark than when a close third behind Saeed Bin Suroor's Bab Al Salam at Bath last time, he has solid claims.
