Verdict

Having disappointed on an admittedly softer surface than ideal in a Newmarket handicap two starts ago, David Elsworth's Everaard ran much better when dropped into a claimer for the first time when second to Brett Vale on a return visit to the venue last month and he has solid claims but marginal preference is for TIGER FLASH, who gets the vote with Cloudesley rated the best of the rest. The selection is relatively unexposed after just six career starts and seems a shade high in the weights for handicaps at the moment which is seemingly why William Haggas is returning the son of Dansili to claiming company and he has an obvious chance on recent form. Brian Meehan's Navajo Nation has shown a reasonable level of form but is another struggling against the handicapper and he now makes his first start in a claimer. Orthology has seemingly lost his way for Mark Tompkins in runs this season and of more interest may be Cloudesley. Andrew Balding's gelding has been running consistently well in handicaps this season but the handicapper has taken note and he is another with claims dropping into this grade for the first time. Preference though is for Tiger Flash, who has been running better in handicaps and has proven form in claimers as well.
