An open maiden with Acrostic given the tentative vote ahead of Mooted, Blue Spartan and newcomer Slow Escape. Luca Cumani's gelding showed plenty of promise on his recent debut at Lingfield when he was slowly away but then plugged on for a never nearer fifth at the line. Considering he was also hampered when making his effort, he can be rated slightly better than that and with nominal improvement (stable's normally brought along slowly), he can land this. Slow Escape makes his debut today, and whilst it is not encouraging that he is yet to see the racecourse at four, he still needs a check in the betting. Mooted and Papuan Prince both represent stable's whose juveniles normally take time to come to themselves, whilst Zaarmit was green on debut and looks sure to improve on that Brighton run. Blue Spartan has to be considered given the decent Newbury maiden that he contested, however he needs to improve and so we will return to Acrostic as the nomination.
