In depth

Verdict

Greek Envoy is our choice here ahead of Smokey Oakey and Winter Sunrise. Greek Envoy showed a good attitude and a liking for soft going when winning at Leicester last time. The form looks pretty solid and he can go well today. The form of Smokey Oakey's defeat of Eradicate at Newmarket in May has received a number of boosts and he could be coming here on a fair mark. Accordingly, he is afforded plenty of respect. Sir Michael Stoute's unbeaten-in-one runner Winter Sunrise is of obvious interest and we will find out more about him today, although he should be okay on the going. Vorteeva competed at a higher level last season but has it to prove at present, while the consistent Gremlin, Ripon winner Northern Jem, Coeur de Lionne, who is eight pounds better off for eight lengths with Smokey Oakey based on Newmarket form, Oakley Heffert, who has run well over 12 furlongs here from today's mark, and Radical Views, who should enjoy the underfoot conditions, will all, no doubt, attract their supporters but, for us, the selection is Greek Envoy.
