In depth

Verdict

There are a good number to consider here with the likes of Charles Street, Alfadora and Castlemainvillage all respected but we'll confine our short-list to Amble Forge, Sir Bumble and LYDLINCH who is selected. Charles Street is likely to take out a large share of the market as he bids to complete a hat-trick under a 7lb penalty. He never came off the bridle when winning by fifteen lengths on Thursday but this race looks stronger. Alfadora is still feasibly treated following his win at Southwell and should go well again whilst Castlemainvillage is entitled to come on for a fair effort on his return. Amble Forge was well backed when last seen and only narrowly failed to get up; that was over two miles but he's well worth a try at this longer trip and remains of interest. Sir Bumble found only a gambled on Tizzard runner too strong here last time and should be in the mix again from a 7lb higher mark if he can build on that performance. We're going to take a chance with a handicap newcomer from a yard that has made a good start to the season. He does need to step up on the bare form of his three runs at around the minimum but each race was contested by some useful sorts. This is more realistic and Lydlinch may prove up to the task.
