Tana River was given a bold sighter at each his fences and loved every moment of it. The 10-year-old jumped smoothly for Barry Fenton and kept on finding more when Amicelli and Xellance came to his quarters. The Emma Lavelle-trained gelding obviously likes a test of stamina and, as he is unlikely to suffer unduly with the handicapper, he may have another pay-day within his capabilities. Cut in the ground suits him well and it will be interesting to note if he makes a quick return to racing. Xellance responded well for Timmy Murphy and tried his heart out. However, he lacked a change of gear near the finish and was well held by the winner. Bubble Boy was also brushed aside with ease on the final circuit, while Amicelli took a heavy fall four out and was lucky to emerge unscathed
