In depth

Verdict

Poitiers gets the vote here with Aruba Dam and Chase the Sunset the others for the shortlist. The selection is a French import and won well at Auteuil last time. He is sure to have been well prepared for this by Martin Pipe and looks to be the one to beat. Aruba Dam represents the main danger and he ran better than the bare form suggests when finishing third behind Rye Brook at Chepstow last time. He is in good heart at present, is from an in-form yard, and could run our selection close. The other worthy of consideration is Chase the Sunset and he ran a fair race to finish fourth behind Jahash at Taunton last time. He will have to step up on that effort but could be capable of taking a hand in the finish. The others do not look good enough, so we are happy to side with the French import Poitiers.
