In depth

Verdict

The Paul Nicholls-trained Woolcombe Folly is bound to be popular with backers here having done little wrong since being switched to hurdles but he may struggle under his penalty and preference is for Red Admiral, who gets the vote over Make Haste. The last mentioned represents the in-form yard of Venetia Williams and has to be considered but he would need to improve on all known hurdling form to take a hand here. French import San Marino has shown gradual improvement of late and makes more appeal than Boot 'n Toot, who came close to opening his account over hurdles last time but that was in a poor race at Taunton. The vote then goes to Charlie Mann's Red Admiral, who used to be with Godolphin and has shown steady improvement over hurdles this season for his new connections after having had a year off.
