In depth

Verdict

Another moderate event albeit a fairly competitive one with several coming in to the race in good form. Just Hoping stepped up appreciably on previous efforts when getting the better of Kandy Four here in novice company on Easter Monday and, being lightly raced, may have the necessary improvement to come to enable him to confirm the form on 2lb worse terms. Tempo was a comfortable winner of a Plumpton seller (now 7lb higher) on the same day but got only as far as the second fence when unseating on his next start while Superior Weapon was well below the form of his Kelso victory last time and may need softer ground to show his best. Taking returned to form with a narrow defeat at Market Rasen last time but has been raised 5lb as a consequence which may prove beyond him so Fils de Cresson gets the vote. Although on a long losing sequence, this veteran has shown in his last two starts in similar company that he still has the ability to lift a race of this nature and should give a good account.
