In depth

Verdict

Tight Call and Kajaki are both penalised having won on their respective hurdling debuts in maiden company. The former followed success in a bumper with an easy victory at Hereford and the latter won by five lengths at Sedgefield. Either could win this but with that pair hard to separate a speculative vote goes to SKANDIBURG. Olly Murphy’s charge is a half-brother to a winning hurdler and can take advantage of the weight concession having won a bumper at Fakenham on last month’s reappearance. Mountain Hawk was fourth in a bumper last year and has switched to Tim Easterby while stablemate Dew Pond won four times on the Flat and also makes his hurdling bow.
