Verdict

Mark Johnston looks to have found a suitable opportunity for Recognise to open his account and he gets the vote over Historic Place and Fu Fighter. The last mentioned has shown signs of ability and should be suited by the step up in trip but would want plenty of rain and a bigger threat may come from Toby Balding's Ascot bumper winner Historic Place who has run with credit in two maidens on the flat to date. Jeremy Noseda's Fiddlers Ford takes a big step up in trip and is not a certain stayer and of more interest may be the Barry Hills-trained Opera Star, who ran as well as could have been expected at Bath on Wednesday. The vote though goes to Recognise, who has the best form on offer and is bred to appreciate the longer distance today.
