A fascinating maiden with some top yards represented. We will side with the Marcus Tregoning newcomer Mumaathel, with River Kirov and High Octave also worthy of respect. The selection goes for this race rather than one of the better events at Newmarket later on in the week and the hint should be taken. He is a superbly bred son of Alhaarth and so long as the betting is not two detrimental he looks the one to be on. River Kirov made a very promising debut when runner up to Red Evie over this trip at Yarmouth. The third was well beaten off and so the form looks pretty decent. High Octave improved throughout last season and should run well if fit from his winter break. The Barry Hills pair Jihaaz and Portland should be watched in the betting, but there is a lot to like about Mumaathel on breeding and this one gets our vote.
