In depth

Verdict

The market for this maiden will probably centre around David Loder's debutant, Stakhanovite. A full brother to 2,000 Guineas winner Mark Of Esteem, if he possesses any of the ability of his elder brother, he will be very difficult to beat in this grade. Rudood does at least have the benefit of racecourse experience. He chased home the useful Prince Tulum here in September and should have no problems with the step up in trip. Arakan is a Nureyev colt who has had two racecourse appearances over six furlongs. Sir Michael Stoute's runners are always respected but we will wait for signs that the stable are flying before lumping on. Clive Brittain¿s Estimate looks to be the pick of the fillies. She is entitled to come on for an encouraging racecourse debut but the male opposition looks too strong for her today.
