In depth

Verdict

Hopkins gets the narrowest of votes over Go Johnny, The Entomologist, Turnberry Bay and Devils And Dust. Suffice to say that with Martin Pipe's team not in great form this week, the market should be noted as to the chances of newcomer Turnberry Bay, but if it does speak in his favour, take note. However, the debut run of Hopkins at Warwick in January leads us to believe that Henry Daly's charge is the one to be on. A half-brother to the stable's useful chaser Billyvodden, he looked the likely winner on the home turn before fading in the straight and will know a lot more now. Go Johnny has been well entered up over the past few weeks but abandonment have delayed his appearance on the racecourse. He is well regarded and should give a good account as should Devils And Dust, third to Top Ram at Towcester. The latter has since let the form down though, so he is not as well fancied by us at least. Ex-pointer The Entomologist is difficult to evaluate, but his dam is related to Gold Cup winner Cool Ground and he has the assistance of Tony McCoy, so is another to note, but Hopkins is the pick of Henry Daly's trio and should make experience count.
