Course and distance winner Terramarique faces no easy task under top weight in this handicap hurdle and a safer option looks to be OTANTIQUE, who gets the vote ahead of Major Miller. Oliver Sherwood's gelding fell over fences at Aintree last time but earlier form is solid and he has been given a chance by the handicapper back over hurdles today. Tim Vaughan's Trevian has claims but has yet to prove that he stays this far and is not certain to do so, while David Pipe's Learning The Blues has claims on the pick of his form but has not shown that for some time so looks best watched. Magnifico lost no caste in defeat behind the progressive Englishtown at Worcester last time and has to be respected but he would probably prefer a softer surface. Jimmy Frost's Captain Becket is a consistent performer and has claims on the pick of his form but he disappointed at Newton Abbot when last seen two months ago and a bigger threat is likely to come from Imtihan. Sue Smith's gelding was good value for his win at Perth earlier this month but an 11lb rise for that success seems a shade harsh and preference is for Otantique. Emma Lavelle's gelding has improved with each start this term over fences and can race off a much lower mark back over hurdles today so he looks worth chancing.
