Verdict

A good turnout for this selling hurdle but not that many possess solid claims and the short-list can quickly be reduced to RIO DE JANEIRO, Federstar and Anglicisme. The booking by Milton Harris of McCoy for Federstar is an eyecatching one and the gelding has claims at the weights but will need to make the most of the drop in grade as he's failed to complete in three of his last four starts. George Baker places his horses well and Rio De Janeiro has upwards of a stone in hand of his rivals if official ratings are to be believed but it has been a year since he showed any worthwhile form so his selection couldn't be done with confidence. Anglicisme was a victor over course and distance on his last start over hurdles so has to be considered despite his subsequent efforts over fences. Villochely, Toss The Caber and Solid Silver are other names to conjure with but Rio De Janeiro gets the nod.
