In depth

Verdict

A war of attrition appears likely and Apple Joe is selected at the expense of Trading Up and Never Awol. Apple Joe is difficult to catch right but he relishes a slog over extended trips and if there is any money seen for him before the race, it should not be ignored. Trading Up isn't quite as good as he was over hurdles. He gave a fair account of himself around here last time out but there were few excuses when push came to shove. Ben Pollock's stable are in form so Never Awol comes into calculations. He does have to reverse form with our selection and might just need this after a short absence. Iloveturtle is dropped in class although it seems difficult to pinpoint what his ideal trip is. Cionn Mhalanna has been punted on his last two visits to the track so he is clearly capable of much better than he has shown on the racecourse thus far. Lord Broadway is heading back towards a winning mark and has obvious place claims if in the mood. Woodview is applied with the first time visor. Apple Joe is far from the most consistent of individuals but given that we have a number of out of form types, stakes should be kept to the minimum.
