With an official mark of 82 and with Barry Hills boasting a 25 per cent strike rate at the track, Ghost is sure to be popular but there should be some mileage in taking her on as she makes her seasonal return. Newcomers Calipatria, Spanish Island and Crimson Empire are considered but the suggestion is SHETHOUGHTSHEWAS. Alan Swinbank's filly looked in need of the race on debut but only went down by three quarters of a length at Newcastle with Jemima Nicholas in second; the surprise winner is only moderate but Shethoughtshewas may well be able to make the requisite improvement with the yard going well. Spread Boy has shown ability but of more interest are the newcomers from top yards whilst any support for Spanish Island should be taken seriously as the 105,000 guineas breeze up purchase finally makes it to the track; the yard has had a relatively quiet season but Paul Hanagan is five from fifteen for Mikael Magnusson and the yard can ready one. A market check is advised, therefore, but Shethoughtshewas is the suggestion as things stand.
