          Verdict

          Duke Of Firenze is finding it difficult to get his head back in front despite tumbling down the weights in the last year or so and similar comments apply to Smokey Lane. Jabbarockie finished third over track and trip a fortnight ago - ahead of Bashiba, Excessable and Robot Boy - and can figure again while Landing Night finished in front of the less-exposed Tabaahy when placed at Wetherby recently. Paul Midgley bids to win this for the third time in succession with Lathom preferred to stablemate Mutafarrid after going close at Hamilton and Ruth Carr also runs two with a shout. Suwaan was beaten less than a length at Musselburgh recently but it’s interesting that James Sullivan switches to handicap debutant ALQAAB, who finished behind Tabaahy in novice company last month but hails from the family of top-class sprinter The Trader and could run a big race.
