In depth

Verdict

Seven furlongs and fast ground suited Moverra last time and Michael Wigham's charge can go one better than at Yarmouth to take this from Lambency, Silidan, Boy Dancer and Invincible Lad. The selection showed a marked improvement in form in that minor handicap contest, and this is not exactly the strongest race ever run at Thirsk, so provided his trainer can elicit some consistency from him then he is the suggestion. Lambency won on fast ground at Newcastle last summer and is now only 1lb higher again, though the doubt over him is this trip. Silidan has gone well on his last two starts on the polytrack and sees out every yard of this, so he can certainly get involved in the closing stages. Boy Dancer has won over 6f on fast ground and got stuck in the mud last time, but with conditions and trip to his liking here a good showing would be no surprise. Of the remainder, Invincible Lad was good enough to land a Wolverhampton maiden in February but has to prove he handles faster ground on turf, and with little else making appeal we will take Moverra to score.
