Conrad may prove to be a step ahead of his rivals on his first start for Richard Fahey and he is selected ahead of Lambourn raider First Approval and Lucksin, who tries a more appropriate trip this evening. The last named has been crying out for a step up in distance after making the frame in eight of his previous starts. He is consistent and will not go down without a fight. First Approval may not be a stable star at Barry Hills' yard, but he is not without ability in his own right. His two previous starts this season have indicated that he can win a race before too long and he will not be too far away if he runs to scratch. However, it may be worth chancing that the switch in scenery for Conrad will work the oracle for the son of Royal Applause, who was last seen finishing third behind Aidan O'Brien's Mountain in a maiden at Navan. There are plenty of winners in his pedigree and the three-year-old looks a nice type for his connections to enjoy their racing with as the season goes on.
