Berkshire-based trainer Johnny Portman is a rare visitor to this course but he looks to have found a good opportunity to pay for the travel expenses with Carte Noire, who is preferred over Regal Flight and Stop The Nonsense, who can figure strongly in a weak race like this. So too can Polar Galaxy and Indi Ano Star if they consent to run anywhere near their best this afternoon. In contrast, Amanda's Lad has struggled at every level he has been tried at and his connections are no doubt at the end of their tether in figuring out what they have to do for their charge to finally win a race. Therefore this looks best left to Carte Noire, who has been knocking on the door in better races than this and can make the most of a very good chance at the weights today.
