An interesting opener that can go to Smiddy Hill, whose York form boosts his claims above Mitchelland and Selkirk Storm, who make the most appeal out of the rest. The two newcomers do not looks to be anything out of the ordinary on pedigree and they are probably best left alone for the time being, which leaves Beckermet and Unlimited to scrap it out as the best of the remainder. Both are open to improvement but will need to do so to figure in this company. While Mitchelland should be seen to better effect on this more conventional course and, as he already holds Bidbury Flyer, he could be the one to give the selection the most to do. However, Smiddy Hill has improved with each outing and arrives here on the back of a confidence boosting win at York from last month. The daughter of Factual does have a little more on her plate in this company and it will not be plain sailing for her. Even so, she showed that she is a determined character when she puts her mind to it and, with just a 2lb penalty for her Knavesmire success, Smiddy Hill is the percentage call even though she is not one to go overboard about at restricting odds.
