Cryfield ran well when last in this grade but Nigel Tinkler's gelding faces no easy task at the weights today and preference is for Slavonic, who gets the vote ahead of Locombe Hill. The last mentioned took advantage of a favourable mark to score on the all-weather in June but was well held by the selection on his return to turf last time and is difficult to recommend on that evidence. Wind Chime still retains ability at the age of eight but is not as consistent as he once was and of more interest may be the John Weymes-trained Linden's Lady, who disappointed at Ayr last time but has solid claims on earlier form. Thornaby Green and Proud Western have claims on the pick of their form but a safer bet looks to be Kevin Ryan's Slavonic, who has run to a consistent level of form in similar grade of late and a reproduction of recent efforts may well suffice.
