Lady Herries, who saddles the fancied Ile Michel half an hour earlier, can also make a bold bid with Narooma here, and the southern raider is taken to beat Allegrina, with Baileys Imperial best of the rest for a place. Narooma, related to a Group 2 winner in Germany on the dam's side, made a pleasing debut at Lingfield just over three weeks ago when fourth to Chief Yeoman, and although holding no fancy entries, should be more than good enough to open her account, given normal improvement. The weight that she receives from the colts will come in handy as well and she will line up fancied. The other filly,Allegrina, was described as green and noisy on her way down to the start on her racecourse bow at Haydock last summer but shaped well enough in finishing a staying on second to Wizard Of Noz. Stepped up in trip on her two subsequent outings at Beverley and here at Thirsk, she gave the impression that she was not too happy on the fast ground, as she was not able to bring her stamina into play. Lack of an outing is also a negative, although she can make her mark in handicap company later on. Baileys Imperial failed to step up on his Southwell debut when soundly beaten at Leicester and will need further to be considered as a future winner.
