Verdict

SPLENDORINTHEGRASS comes a long way for a winnable race and Roger Charlton's charge is taken to score with little trouble; Doc Jones, officially rated 72, looks the obvious one for the forecast. The selection was last seen in a Group Three behind Evasive at Newbury in October and this is obviously a much easier assignment. He tackles quick ground for the first time today which might cause some consternation for this son of mud-lover Selkirk, however this brother to Etlaala should cope and win accordingly. Doc Jones will pick up a maiden at some point but his limitations may have been exposed now in four starts; his run at Warwick onfirmed that this surface holds no fears but the liklihood is that he will have to settle for second best once again. Giving weight away to all of his rivals will make Whirlijig's task much harder, whilst Neva A Dull Moment and Son Of Monsieur need to step up markedly on their debut runs to take a hand here. Aaman may take the third place having shown some ability, but this looks straightforward for Splendorinthegrass.
