In depth

Verdict

ERADICATE showed decent form on the flat for Mark Johnston and with Nicky Henderson sure to have ensured that he has been well schooled, he is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles, getting the vote ahead of Latin Scholar and My Moment. The last mentioned was good value for his Aintree success in November but struggled under his penalty at Bangor subsequently and he may be best watched on his first start since then today. Yetholm showed only a limited amount of ability in four starts on the level for James Fanshawe and it will be interesting to see what he achieves now trained by Philip Hobbs. Phoenix Ice was capable on the level in Ireland and he has to be considered on his debut over hurdles for Jonjo O'Neill, while Prince Sabaah showed plenty of promise on his first start for Venetia Williams at Fontwell and he should come on for the run. Latin Scholar is an interesting newcomer for Alan King but none of these are more interesting than Eradicate, who gets the vote.
