In depth

Verdict

Benfleet Boy was good value for his defeat of The Panama Kid at Doncaster last month and has every chance of following up that success but Brendan Powell's gelding may struggle to do so under a penalty and preference is for SILK HALL, with Moves Goodenough rated the pick of the rest. The selection was capable on the flat when with David Arbuthnot, showing gradual improvement and is taken to make a winning debut over timber for Alan King. Farmers Cross has yet to show any worthwhile form since joining Philip Hobbs but cannot be ruled out in what does not seem to be the strongest of races, while French import Quartz De Thaix is probably best watched on his first outing for Venetia Williams. Moves Goodenough showed improved form on the flat and carried that over when making a winning hurdles debut at Uttoxeter in November. Unable to successfully defy a penalty on a return visit to the venue later that month Andy Turnell's gelding has to be considered but it may be worth taking a chance with the hurdling newcomer Silk Hall.
