In depth

Verdict

SUN QUEST is likely to head the market in a big field, and we'll side with him, ahead of Supsonic and Saoirse's Chestnut. Tim Vaughan's gelding won first time out for him last time, at the 31st time of asking in a similar contest in soft conditions. Prior to that he'd been beaten late on when seemingly spooked as poised to win, and he comes here as the only one really in form. He's also got an entry for a better grade race next week at Market Rasen. Given his previous inconsistency though, we should beware of the bounce factor, and he is carrying a few pounds more now. Top weight Supsonic couldn't cope with a strong pace in soft going in a handicap last time out, after previously winning a seller over this trip. Indeed he's the only distance winner here, and comes in to the contest with the highest official rating. Saoirse's Choice makes his debut on these shores, coming over from Ireland for Charlie Byrnes. He drops to selling company after being disappointing in a couple of handicaps back home. Any market support should be noted. It's not a great opener, but we'll side with Sun Quest.
