Down The Stretch had to work hard to win here over course and distance last month and faces no easy task to follow up today off his new mark so preference is for Megaton, who gets the vote over Fieldsofclover. The last mentioned has been running consistently well but has yet to prove that he stays this far so Emma Lavelle's gelding may be best watched. Venetia Williams has her team in good form so Kock De La Vesvre has to be respected but he needs to improve on the form shown on his last two starts to trouble the judge. Paul Nicholls continues to churn out winners but his runner Smart Cavalier has given little cause for optimism of late and of more interest may be the less exposed Rajam, who did not beat much when winning here in April but may be open to further improvement. A market move for Super Judge would be of interest but it is Megaton that gets the vote. Peter Bowen could hardly have his team in better form and, with trip and ground conditions to suit, the seven-year-old looks worth backing to put a disappointing effort at Perth last time behind him.
