Johny Scruff showed ability on his racecourse debut when chasing home Choctaw Nation in a Uttoxeter bumper last month but Mick Quinlan's gelding faces no easy task on his hurdling debut and this looks little more than a match between Golan Way and Sendani, with preference for the latter. Golan Way got the better of the selection when landing a course and distance novices' hurdle last month but a 5lb pull for the six lengths between the pair that day may be enough to see Sendani reverse that form and it is the Paul Nicholls inmate that gets the vote. Hugh Collingridge's Motarjm showed a reasonable amount of ability on the flat and made an encouraging debut over timber at Huntingdon back in October. Fit from the flat, the four-year-old has to be respected and has more solid claims than Noel Chance's bumper winner True Star, who needs to improve on all known form over hurdles to trouble the judge. This does not look the strongest of novices' hurdles and Sendani is taken to resume winning ways.
