Star Member can make a winning start over timber, with The Bailie, Cirrus and Air Guitar likely to be involved in the thick of the action. In truth, none of those with experience over hurdles are anything special, and the Flat class of Star Member should stand him in good stead as he embarks on his new career. The Ian Williams-trained six-year-old was a useful staying handicapper on the level, but has failed to sparkle in three runs this summer, albeit against top company in the Northumberland Plate and The Ebor. Sure to have been well schooled, he should have too many guns for these, as long as the ground does not turn soft. The Baillie makes his debut over hurdles after two educational outings in bumper company, and with Tony McCoy in the saddle, plus a step up to a trip more in keeping with his breeding, it is not hard to see Charlie Egerton's gelding giving him most to do. Cirrus runs in the colours of Sir Robert Ogden, and the French import should be noted in the betting, while Air Guitar shaped well at Huntingdon last time and is another that will benefit from the trip. All in all, Star Member is the most interesting runner on view here and can pay to support.
