Saxon Saint has been a model of consistency since stepping into nurseries but there is a suspicion that Mark Usher's gelding is now in the grip of the handicapper and preference is for top weight Laith, who gets the vote ahead of Killarney Beauty. The last mentioned fulfilled debut promise when landing a Nottingham maiden last month and has to be respected off a mark of 77 on her debut in this grade. Willie Muir's Crooner has rather harshly been raised 3lbs since his recent third in a Windsor maiden and of more interest may be Nick Littmoden's Orpsie Boy, who has done little wrong in this grade in his last two starts and probably would not mind any rain that fell. Nivelle is closely matched with Saxon Saint on Brighton running and has to be respected along with John Dunlop's Epsom winner Qusoor. The vote though goes to The Barry Hills-trained Laith, who looked useful when opening her account over this trip at Yarmouth last month and is potentially well treated.
