A competitive event with a number of in-form rivals in opposition but Mister Sweets is progressing along the right lines at present and gets the vote. Michael Chapman's charge gained a richly deserved victory in a Lingfield maiden over this trip before confirming the merit of the form when a close second of 22 in a valuable handicap at Doncaster last week. The son of Nashwan still looks on a fair mark and this track will suit his front running tactics so he should prove difficult to peg back. Smart Hostess is on a hat-trick after handicap wins both here and at Wolverhampton but has taken a sharp rise in the handicap as a result while Taranaki is capable of going close but is a difficult ride who finds little off the bridle. Quito has enjoyed a profitable campaign on the all-weather tracks this winter but faces no easy task under top weight while Compton Arrow is best watched following a near six-month absence.
