Humdinger has his first start since being claimed out of Declan Daly's stable after winning over course and distance at the beginning of September but this represents a tough task for him after a near three-month absence so we take Macaroni Gold to follow up his recent course victory, with the hat trick-seeking Vin Du Pays rated the main danger. The selection has shown improved form of late with that recent comfortable success over two miles here coming on the back of an encouraging effort when third to the useful yardstick Maystock at Lingfield previously. Clearly at home on the Fibresand at Southwell, the Willie Jarvis-trained gelding is taken to defy the 7lb penalty incurred for last week's win. Vin Du Pays comes here on the back of two good wins at Wolverhampton but the combination of another rise in the weights and the different track puts us off him. Topweight Glory Quest is a reliable sort and capable of taking a hand in the finish off his current mark but is more exposed than the selection, who has only had six career outings to date. Forever My Lord, who's all-weather experience has been kept solely to the Polytrack at Lingfield so far and In Luck, from the in-form stable of Brian Smart, are others worthy of a mention but we are happy to side with the improving Macaroni Gold, who may be ahead of the handicapper.
