Verdict

Smart Scot just keeps on winning, and we think he can notch his fifth straight win, mainly at the expense of fellow course and distance winner Mr Whizz and Jake Black. The selection has been a revelation for Brian Baugh this season, winning four on the bounce, but still does not seem too harshly treated and, with his rider taking five pounds off his back, can play a leading part in this contest. Kenny The Truth showed improved form to win over course and distance last time but will probably need to improve again to score here. Mr Whizz beat Kenny The Truth by a short head over today's course and distance on January 20 and is now six pounds better off at the weights. He initially struggled from a revised mark after winning but looks more than likely to be more competitive now. Jake Black comes here in good heart following a win here in an amateurs event and a good run over hurdles. He seems to have suddenly grown up so do not rule out a good run. Lady At Leisure has shown very little to date and is now fitted with a first-time visor while Nimbus Two Thousand has shown little. Printsmith has won over course and distance and is now six pounds better off for the three-and-a-half lengths he finished behind Kenny The Truth last time, so she looks as though she has to improve marginally to play a leading part here. Once again, then, we return to Smart Scot, who can extend his winning sequence.
