Samar Qand gets the vote here ahead of Trojan Wolf and Spiders Web. Running through the field. Cumwhitton will need the application of cheekpieces to bring about a good bit of improvement if he is to feature here. Mathmagician ran quite well over course and distance last time and a repeat of that effort could put him in the frame. Samar Qand was just ahead of him that day and they meet on the same terms today. Samba Beat won over a mile here two years ago but has shown little in the way of form for well over a year now. Trojan Wolf has won six times here, including twice over course and distance. While he is not the force of old, he should still be competitive at this level. Wethaab is another of the runners to have won here but lacks a recent run, while Spiders Web stepped up on previous efforts when second to Mrs Cube here over an extended mile last time. He could well improve again at this type of trip. Think Quick can put in the occasional reasonable performance but remains a maiden after 21 starts and others are preferred by us today. Overall, then, we are happy to side with Samar Qand.
