Allium is the selection to land this maiden at her second attempt with Premier Yank and Weetfromthechaff contenders for minor honours. The selection renews rivalry with Premier Yank, the latter finishing 1/2l behind Allium on what was her racecourse debut. That event was over 5f at Lingfield, where the bend over that course proved a real hindrance to negotiate. Both Allium and Premier Yank ran with distinct promise when straightened up though, suggesting both should benefit considerably from the experience. Allium appears to have the better of the draws here and on that basis is our choice. The market suggested Premier Yank was very well fancied for that Lingfield event, an opening show of 3/1 was quickly eroded at all rates down to 11/8. A son of Johannesburg, the fibresand should prove to his liking but drawn stand side is a worry as the course has shown in recent days to ride much slower down the near side rail. The remainder are ordinary but Wheetfromthechaff is consistent and takes on the minimum distance for the first time. His recent outings over 6f suggest that might have been stretching his stamina. It appears a match between Allium and Premier Yank and Allium is given the nod.
