Verdict

Jacopo has been found a soft race and is a confident choice to open his account over timber. The Robin Dickin-trained gelding has shown a consistent level of form of late and did particularly well when only narrowly denied behind a useful type over course and distance in January. The son of Grand Tresor was far from disgraced in handicap company at Wetherby last time and should prove too strong at this ordinary level. Nickel Sundancer appeared to appreciate the better ground at Catterick last month when stepping up on previous efforts and, with further improvement to come, may pose the biggest threat to the selection. With Viva Bingo becoming disappointing and Idlewild cutting little ice in point-to-points, it would be no surprise if the selection's stable companion, Cedar, proved good enough to go close on his debut.
