Verdict
A 16-runner claimer to kick things off, and from a shortlist that also contains Desperation and Weet A Head, we will side with Come What July. There is no doubt that the selection, who is the only course winner in the line-up, remains on a handy mark based on, would you believe, July form and, much as we said that before his last run, the same applies now and it is hard to ignore his credentials. Desperation fares pretty well on adjusted ratings and can go well in a bid to give Robert Winston a win following his return from injury, while Weet A Head ran well in first-time cheekpieces last time and is respected. The lightly-raced Midnight Lace generally runs well on artificial surfaces and, although he has never run here, has to be considered. An intriguing runner is Willie Muir's Chater Knight, whose sole career run has come in Sha Tin, although he starts here at a lowly level. Finally, Je Suis Belle is open to some improvement and Yashin races in first-time blinkers but, for the selection, we stay with Come What July.
