Verdict

Having seemingly lost his way on the level Leo's Luckyman finally resumed winning ways when landing a handicap off a mark of 98 here in December and, if translating that form to hurdles, he should take all the beating so gets the vote ahead of Once and Adventurist in a race where there is little public hurdles form to go on. Once has steadily regressed on the level but the switch to hurdles may bring about improvement in the five-year-old who is now in the care of Mark Rimell. Panzer is another that lacks a previous run over hurdles but is of a similar level of ability on the flat, while South African import Huckster is probably better than he showed on his debut for Venetia Williams at Taunton last month. Grand Daum has shown promise in two starts in bumpers but may lack the necessary speed and of greater interest is Peter Bowen's Adventurist, who showed progressive form for James Fanshawe on the level and is sure to have been well schooled. Leo's Luckyman was easily the best of these on the level though and is taken to make a winning start to his hurdling career.
