Verdict

ESPRIT DE MIDAS is fancied to gain a third course and distance success within a month; Dancing Wave has proved to be no match for the selection, so it may be down to Paint Splash to provide the sternest challenge today. Paint Splash won a seller here in December and was allotted a rating of just 58 as a result. He was not beaten far (despite finishing last) in a better grade last time out. And the step back to seven furlongs is expected to suit him this afternoon. However, Esprit De Midas has been impressive in disposing of Dancing Wave in each of his last two starts and, having created the impression he has a lot left in the locker, the Kevin Ryan-trained three-year-old has a great chance of brushing aside his double penalty in this modest company.
