In depth

Verdict

BROWN LENTIC won well last time and we will take him to do so again at the main expense of Woodcote and Desert Opal. Julia Fielden's 3-year-old colt was having his first run for his new yard when he beat Speak The Truth last time at Lingfield. He was also returning from a break that day so there could be more to come and he is taken to make it back-to-back successes. Woodcote returned to form last time when he chased home Grimes Faith at Southwell and at this level he is clearly a leading player. However, he is more exposed than our selection and on that basis he is narrowly passed over. Desert Opal ran his best race for a while at Wolverhampton last time when he finished fourth behind Tyrannosaurus Rex. He is eased in grade and he has definite claims. Scarlet Oak disappointed when eased to this grade last time so she is one to have reservations about and we will stick with Brown Lentic as the pick.
