Verdict

A tricky race for punters to get an angle on and GURTEEN DIAMOND is a speculative pick against Diamond Surprise and La Capriosa. It was always dangerous to back unproven types at Southwell so it is with a little caution that we side with Nicky Vaughan's charge. That said, his Wolverhampton runs have suggested that he doesn't lack pace and if getting to the front, it will be interesting to see whether he can serve it up to the opposition. Diamond Surprise tries hard but is equally prone to pulling a little too hard in the early stages. The latter has proved her downfall on more than one occasion in the past. La Capriosa is something of a regular at this grade. She is a winner at the course although the jury is out as to whether this is her best trip. Floods of Tears makes a handicap debut today whilst Kheskianto, who was scheduled to race here on Thursday, would be of interest if missing that engagement and turning up on this occasion. Gurteen Diamond is chanced in a race where plenty have negatives.
