This is a competitive seller where a few can be given good chances if they run up to the best of their previous form. Repeat, Headland and Lucayan Monarch are all capable of going close in a race of this nature and have to be considered in any shortlists. However, Jan Brueghel has a good record at this track and is given another chance now that Dean Mernagh is back in the saddle. The selection responded well for today's rider the only other time they were paired-off together and another bold show is anticipated. The fact that Jan Brueghel broke a blood vessel when he raced over course last time will no doubt be off-putting for quite a few punters so a good price can virtually be assured. However, he still did well to finish seventh of the 16 runners on that occasion and it can safely be assumed that he would not be back on the track had there been anything seriously wrong with him. Repeat appeals most of the rest but he is unlikely to represent the best value on offer after his victory at Wolverhampton on Saturday. Even so, he is the best alternative if the market indicates that it will be prudent to give Jan Brueghel more time.
