      Verdict

      Some late maturing types come into opposition and it is no easy task pinpointing a reliable selection despite the lack of numbers. However, Meliana showed plenty of sparkle in a seller at Wolverhampton last November and the Whittingham filly would not need to find much to follow up in this company. Daring Affair has plenty on at these weights so Garnock Venture is expected to give the selection the most to do. Of the rest: Siegfrieds Night has claims on the best of her form and is preferred over Birikana if there is going to be anything to cause an upset. While Numpty lived up to his name when showing signs of greenness in his three outings over a mile last term, but is at least worth a try at this trip; if only to give his connections an idea of where to go from here. Therefore, the process of elimination brings us back to Meliana, who should make a bold bid in her first try in handicap-company with crack all weather jockey, Jimmy Quinn, booked for the ride.
